Ololua is Nairobi's best-kept secret: several hundred hectares of indigenous forest in Karen, threaded with trails, a river gorge, a small waterfall and a bat cave.
It is our most popular day trip because it asks nothing of you — no early start, no long drive, no big budget — and still delivers a genuine walk in real forest with sykes monkeys overhead.

Morning
Meet at the trail gate in Karen at 9:00am for a briefing, then set off on the main loop with a forest guide. The trail drops to the river, follows the gorge and passes the caves and waterfall.
Midday
We stop at the clearing for a picnic lunch and group games — this is where the team-building groups do their sessions.
Afternoon
The return loop climbs gently back through the forest, finishing at the gate around 3:00pm.

The trail is easy to moderate with some short steep sections in the gorge. Most people of average fitness, including children over about eight, complete it comfortably.
