Diani is twenty-five kilometres of white coral sand protected by a reef, which means flat, warm, swimmable water all day. This trip gives you enough time to actually settle into it.
The centrepiece is a morning boat trip to meet the resident bottlenose pods offshore, followed on another day by a dhow sail down to Wasini and the Kisite-Mpunguti marine park for snorkelling over living coral.
The rest is deliberately unstructured — a beach, a book, and a sundowner. Travel is by overnight coach or the SGR train from Nairobi.
Day 1
Depart Nairobi by SGR morning train or overnight coach. On arrival in Mombasa we transfer south via the Likoni crossing to Diani, around ninety minutes. Check in, and the afternoon is yours on the beach.
Day 2
An early start for the dolphin boat trip — bottlenose pods are most active in the first hours of light. We continue to a reef site for snorkelling before returning mid-morning. The afternoon is free.
Day 3
A dhow sail south to the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park for snorkelling over coral gardens, followed by a Swahili seafood lunch on Wasini Island and a walk over the coral gardens boardwalk. Back at the hotel by late afternoon.
Day 4
A relaxed morning and late checkout, then transfer back to Mombasa for the afternoon train or evening coach to Nairobi.

The pods here are resident and sightings are common, but these are wild animals in open water so we cannot guarantee them. Our boats go out early, when the odds are best.
Not for the boat trips — life jackets are provided and the snorkelling sites are shallow. Being comfortable in water makes the reef stops far more enjoyable.
The SGR train is faster and more comfortable but sells out early; the overnight coach is cheaper and saves a night's accommodation. We book whichever you prefer, subject to availability.
