Naivasha is the perfect Kenyan weekend and this is the itinerary that proves it: ninety minutes from Nairobi, three genuinely different activities, one night away.
Hell's Gate is the only Kenyan park you can cycle through, because it has no big predators. You ride between zebra, giraffe and buffalo towards a gorge whose red cliffs inspired The Lion King's landscapes.
Crescent Island is a walking sanctuary on a submerged volcanic rim, and the boat safari at golden hour puts you among hippo pods with fish eagles overhead.
Day 1
Depart Nairobi at 7:00am on the expressway, arriving Naivasha mid-morning. We collect bikes at Elsa Gate and ride the seven kilometres to the gorge, past Fischer's Tower and through plains game. A guided walk through the lower gorge follows, then check in and an evening at leisure.
Day 2
After breakfast we boat across to Crescent Island for a walking safari among giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and eland, then continue on the water for a hippo and bird cruise. Lunch on the lakeshore, then depart for Nairobi, arriving early evening.
Lakeside camp or guesthouse — en-suite rooms or comfortable safari tents, with breakfast and a fire pit.

No. The route is flat, on a graded track, and you can go at your own pace. If you would rather not cycle, we can take you through in the vehicle at no extra cost.
Yes. The island has no big predators — only plains game — and you walk with a trained guide. It is one of very few places in Kenya where walking among wildlife is possible.
Yes, as an extra day or by swapping the boat safari. The crater rim hike takes around four to five hours and is steep but non-technical.
