We split the week between Kuala Lumpur — Petronas Towers, Batu Caves, street food in Jalan Alor — and Langkawi, an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea.
Between them sits some of the oldest rainforest on the planet, and a cable car that lifts you over it to a skybridge suspended between two peaks.
Day 1
Depart Nairobi on a connecting flight via the Gulf. Arrive Kuala Lumpur and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2
Petronas Towers skybridge and observation deck, Merdeka Square, the National Mosque and KL Tower. Evening free in Bukit Bintang and Jalan Alor.
Day 3
The Batu Caves limestone temples in the morning, then the cable car up to Genting Highlands for the afternoon. Return to KL for the evening.
Day 4
A morning flight to Langkawi. Check in, and the afternoon is free on the beach at Cenang.
Day 5
The Langkawi SkyCab to the curved skybridge in the morning, then an afternoon island-hopping boat trip to the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden and Eagle Feeding bay.
Day 6
A morning boat tour through the Kilim geoforest park mangroves, bat caves and fish farms. Afternoon free.
Day 7
Transfer to Langkawi airport for the connection home via Kuala Lumpur and the Gulf.
